Strawberry Gateau

So here is a gorgeous Strawberry Gateau recipe. You can change the fruit to whatever you like. Yum yum!


220g/ 9oz Self Raising Flour

1 tsp Baking Powder

200g/ 8oz Caster Sugar

200g/ 8oz Butter softened

4 large Eggs

2 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tbsp Milk

1/2 pint Cream

500g Strawberries 


  1. Preheat the oven to 180C / Gas mark 4/ fan oven 160C
  2. Butter and line a 7 inch cake tin
  3. Put the flour, baking powder, sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla extract into a bowl and mix together on slow speed
  4. Once mixed together increase the speed to full for 2 minutes
  5. Stir in the milk
  6. Put into the tin and smooth it flat
  7. Bake for 50 to 60 mins until the cake springs back when lightly pressed
  8. Cool
  9. Split the cake in two when cooled
  10. Whip the cream until it stands in peaks
  11. Spread half the cream over the bottom half of the cake and cut the strawberries in half
  12. Put on the top layer and spread or pipe the cream and decorate with strawberries

Then pop it in the fridge and eat when ready. To reduce the calorific content, share with friends, neighbours and family. Enjoy 🙂
